On June 6 and 7, 2024, the kick-off event for the “Chipdesign Germany” initiative, a new network funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to promote microelectronics in Germany, took place in the historic monument “Königlicher Pferdestall” (royal stables) of Leibniz Universität Hannover.
Frank Hannig and Dominik Walter presented the 64-core chip ALPACA developed at the Chair of Hardware-Software-Co-Design as part of the event. Visitors could see in action how the chip processes camera images live and in real-time and also discuss in-depth aspects of both the chip design and the application mapping (compiler).
